  Did Jehovah really order the excution of men, women, and children in the land of Canaan?

  i been researching information on why the the conquest of canaan could not be a real historical account.

  Archeologists have come to the conclusion that most of the people we refure to as Israelites were in fact cannaanites with possible mix of some refugee of other races settling into the area.

  I was thinking of that as an explanation.

  I wonder what the motive was for whoever wrote the account in Joshua, to elevate the Israelites? And why did the other people living in Canaan not object when they read the makeup account? It would have been easy for them to call the accounts a lie and write their own version of what really happened. Why didn’t they? It would have put a stop back then to the rest of the compilation of the Bible.

  If there would have been two accounts or even several accounts, one Jewish and one or several from any of those nations, Hittites, Philistines, or Edomite’s, it would have called into question all the Bible books.

  Instead, because no one challenged the stories back then, and let the stories slide throughout history, we now have an “INSPIRED BOOK FROM GOD” and it’s very difficult to convince Christians and Jews, otherwise.

  So all the killing of men, women, and children described in the book of Joshua, were false stories that got exaggerated into fictional stories.

  The only problem scholars seem to have is-

  Where then did Israel come from? Were they already in the land of Canaan? Were they a mixture of the people living in Canaan?

  you can probably guess how this story goes.. i began dating a non-witness boy.

  he knew i was a baptised witness and understood the consequences i faced for dating him.

  we agreed to keep our relationship secret, which was easy considering our 200 mile distance.

  What I'm struggling with is how I'm being disfellowshipped as 'an act of love.' I'm 18, and not even my own parents will talk to me, let alone my closest friends. I feel completely abandoned.

  It is not an act of love.

  It almost was. We can thank the Obama administration for coming up with a ballsy plan that worked to keep us out of that mess brought on by 8 long years of Bush-Cheney fiscal ineptitude.

  What would you say were the main “Things” that Obama did that kept us out of that mess?

  I was still a JW 2 years ago so I never paid any attention to what Presidents did.

  According to two JW elders, Jehovah will protect the Watchtower no matter what happens because they are being used to spread the Good news.

  in the jw world when men look for marriage mates, their criteria are young, gorgeous, regular pioneer, submissive, no children, ------and hopefully no in-laws..

  when woman look for a marriage mate in the jw world, he has to be baptized, but better if regular pioneer, but better if a bethelite or pattersonite, but better if ministerial servant, but better if elder, but better if elder and successful businessman, but better if elder and a doctor, or a lawyer with a big house and a pool, but better with all the above and no children and no in-laws..

  TD Men and women (As groups, not individuals) look for essentially the same things in the real world too.

  I have to admit, the WT messes up people when it comes to relationships. In the JW world you are taught that marriage is for the purpose of serving Jehovah in field service, full time service, Bethel , CO work., meetings, etc. So when you wake up, it takes a while to see what the rest of the world's view is. Everything outside the organization was demonized. It's not easy to drop the indoctrination.

  it seems like the list of people who are accusing him of rape and sexual assault is growing every day.

  i'm skeptical of single accusations but the number of people and the similar stories seem overwhelming now.. it's not a conviction but to the court of public opinion ... guilty?.

  Yeah, it's gone beyond "smoke" - it's a blazing inferno and hopefully some charges come out of all of this.

  It still beggars belief that people actually go and sit though his shows.

  How can anyone accused of such vile behaviour by so many people make anyone laugh?

  And his wife - she must know the truth. I wonder if she made the choice to excuse it all for the fortune ...

  It’s not just the JWs that put up with all the shenanigans of the Watchtower Organization once they are shown the facts, but many people in general seem to not be bothered one bit, when all the facts about someone’s dubious conduct become evident.
